What is and how the Asian handicap are calculated
The Asian handicap is a type of bet in which the draw is virtually eliminated since 2 instead of 3 selections on the outcome of a match are offered. The market that is not offered is “X” and the players according to the handicap set by the bookmaker are simply asked to bet on what the winning team will be.
This is one of the most popular types of betting since it has a lower rake, and with the draw being deducted, the chances of victory increase to 50% compared to 33% of the classic 1X2 bet. There are several forms of Asian handicap, some are somewhat complicated and in some cases they confuse bettors. In the guide below we will explain in detail and by way of example all forms of Asian handicap, bets and over / under bet
Full handicap
Asian Handicap 0: 0: It is a different form for the bet: draw no bet (draw does not play). In this bet type you bet on winning one of the two teams and in the event the match ends, the bet is returned.
You will also find it as: Draw no bet (DNB), Level ball, Asian 0: 0, Asian 0, Team name 0: 0
Asian Handicap -1 or +1: If you select a team in Asian Handicap -1 then you win if the team prevails with 2 or more goals. If it wins exactly 1 goal, the bet is returned. In any other case, you lose your bet. In the case of +1 goals, you win if the match ends in a draw or the team you selected, wins. If you lose with just one goal, you get your money back. You lose only if you are defeated with 2 or more goals.
Depending on the difference in capacity, the handicap also varies. There are games where the handicap is set to two or three goals. In these cases the philosophy is exactly the same. All that changes is the number of goals that the favorite must score or defend the underdog.
You will also find it asian handicap -1 or +1, 1: 0 or 0: 1, Asian -1 or +1, -1 or +1
Half Asian Handicap
Asian Handicap -0.5 or +0.5: It’s the simplest type of Asian handicap. If you choose -0.5 then the team you have to win should win the race. Otherwise you lose your bet.
+0.5 is essentially the double chance (1X or X2). You win if the match ends in a draw or if the team you are betting wins the match
You will also find it as: -1/2 or +1/2 or 0.5: 0 or 0: 0.5, -0.5 or +0.5
Asian Handicap -1.5 or +1.5: Same as the previous Asian, with the difference that there is one more goal. To win at -1.5, the team you wagered should prevail with 2 goals difference. Otherwise, you lose your bet.
In +1.5 you win the tie, win the team you have chosen and lose ONLY with a goal difference.
You will also find it as: 1.5: 0 or 0: 1.5, -1.5 or +1.5
Advanced Asian Handicap
Composite or split Asian handicaps are the most confusing players. They consist of two separate bets, dividing the bet into two equal parts. For a better explanation, we will refer to each one in detail and with examples.
Asian Handicap -0.25 or +0.25: You bet on two bets. 0: 0 and -0.5 (or +0.5). You are paid the full amount if the team in favor of which you bet is winning the match. If the match ends, you lose half the bet if you bet on -0.25 and you win half the odds if you bet on +0.25. The remaining half is returned to your account
You will find it as: -1/4 or +1/4, + 0 + 0,5 and -0 & -0,5 or 0,25: 0 and 0: 0,25
Example: In the game Man. Manchester United – Liverpool bet 10 € to -0.25 for home team in 1.85. This means that half the stake is in Asian 0: 0 and the other half at -0.5. If Manchester’s prevail, they win both bets. If a draw occurs, 0: 0 is invalid and is returned to your account, while -0.5 loses, as at -0.5 you only want to win Manchester to get paid.
If you bet to Liverpool +0.25 at 2.00, you are paid the full amount only if you win. In the draw, half the stake is returned and +0.5 wins. So, € 5 for 2.00.
Asian Handicap -0.75 or +0.75: Also “breaks” on two bets. -0.75 becomes -0.5 and -1, while +0.75 is + 0.5 and +1. In the first case, ito win the entire bet, the team you have chosen has to win with 2 goals difference. If team wins with only one, you win half the stake and the balance is returned to your account. In any other case, you lose your bet.
In the case of +0.75, you will be paid if your team wins or if the match ends in a draw. If your team loses with just one goal, you return the half bet to +1 and lose the bet on +0.5. You lose the entire stake only if your team is defeated with 2 or more goals.
You will find it to as: -3/4 or +3/4, + 0.5 + 0.1 and -0.5 & -0.1 or 0.75: 0 and 0: 0.75
Example: In the groups of the previous example, you have bet € 10 in Asian +0.75 for Liverpool at 2.00. This means you bet € 5 at +0.5 and € 5 on +1 for Liverpool. You win the whole bet if the game is draw or if Liverpool wins. If they miss with a goal difference, the bet +0.5 is lost and +1 is returned to your account. If they are defeated by 2 goals, then both bets are lost.
Remember that:
The composite Asian handicap consists of two bets. All you have to do is break the bet and calculate each bet separately.
As the capacity difference increases, the handicap also increases. You will encounter a handicap such as -1.75. In this case the bet breaks at -1.5 and -2 instead of -0.5 and -1 that was in the previous examples.
Asian betting on over/under
Similar Asian handicaps are also available for over / under, whether it concerns the popular goal market or other alternative bets such as corners and cards.
Asian over / under 2: If you bet on this market you will win if the two teams score 3 or more goals. If they score exactly 2, the bet is returned to your account, and if 0 or 1 goals are scored the bet is lost. This is exactly how the other handicaps of this kind, are working for example such as over / under 1, over / under 3,
Asian over / under 2.25: It works exactly the same as the complex Asian handicap. The bet is divided into two different bets, over / under 2 and over / under 2.5.
If you bet on over 2.25, you win only if more than 3 goals are scored. If they get exactly 2 the over 2 bet is void and on over 2.5 wins. In the event of 0 or 1 goals the bet is lost.
On under 2.25 the bet is shared at under 2 and under 2.5. You win if 0 or 1 goals are achieved and you lose the entire bet if 3 or more are achieved. In the case of 2 goals, half of the bet bet on under 2 is returned and it wins what was bet on under 2.5.
You will also find it as: over 2, 2.50 or under 2, 2.50
Asian over / under 2.75: It is divided into two bets, with the difference that one bet concerns the over / under 2.5 and the other the over / under 3 bet.
By betting under 2.75, you win the whole bet if they score 0,1 or 2 goals. If exactly 3 goals are achieved then the bet in under 2.5 loses and this at over 3 is void.
If you bet on over 2.75, you will be paid the full amount if 4 or more goals are scored. In the case of three goals, you win the bet on over 2.5 and your bet is returned to over 3. All bets are lost if 2 or fewer goals are scored.
You will also find it as: over 2, 2.50 or under 2, 2.50
This particular Asian handicap will be met at highest or lowest limits. The difference is the goals to be achieved to win the bet. For example, if you wager on an over 1.75, you need 3 goals to win the entire bet. If 2 goals are scored, you win the half bet and the other half is returned, and if you lose 0 or 1, you lose your bet.
The Asian Handicap in live bet
One point to be careful about is the handicap during the race. Keep in mind that the Asians in live are not taking into account the goals achieved so far. Any bet you place will be for the rest of the match. Basically, for Asian bets on live betting the score is always 0-0.
Instructions for over/under calculators, and that with the Asian handicap
The over/under calculators, and that with the Asian handicap are two indispensable instruments for trading with the bets and obtaining significant yields in percentage terms.
Instructions for use:
Using the calculators is fairly intuitive.
The grey colored cells are the data entry cells, and the first “free text” column is a column of free entry in which may be inserted, for example – as a reminder- the name of the bookmaker.
You can also indicate if that we are playing that quota on an exchange site; in that case you must also indicate the commission % and check the relative box.
Insert the highest quotas for the various bet types and the calculation spreadsheet will analyze, from the innumerable inserted schemes, the one with the highest yield percentage and automatically indicate how to allocate the amounts for the various selections.
Betting types and abbreviations
- Under/Over: It will be indicated with Under or Over and the number of goals
- Asian Handicap (AH). Already abundantly discussed in the relative article. ItIt will be indicated with AH and the handicap value in parenthesis. For example AH1(+0,25) to indicate that the home team will be given a 0.25 goal advantage.
- European Handicap (EH). It is also called 1X2 with handicap or simply traditional handicap. In this case, as in the classic 1X2 bet, you must predict the outcome of the match, choosing a home team win (marked with a 1), a tie (marked with an X), an away team win (marked with a 2) considering the handicap.
The favorite team will be given a handicap that must be considered in order to determine the winning outcome. That is, as a handicap, the number of goals predicted will be added to the goals scored by the non-favored team.
It is indicated by EH followed by the handicap value in parenthesis.
For example EH1(-1) indicates that the bet will win if the home team (marked by 1) will win with at least 2 scrap goals.
EHX(-1) indicates, rather, that a bet on a tie (marked by X) will win only if the favored team wins exactly with one scrap goal.
Unlike Asian handicap bets, in 1X2-type bets with a handicap there is never a refund. - Draw no bet (DNB): Literally the tie is no bet, It is a type of bet in which you can bet only on the win of one or the other team. In case of a tie, the bet will be refunded, hence the name.
Equivalent bets
Bookmaker adopt different nomenclatures and symbols to indicate the various bets of their schedule, perhaps giving preference to Asian handicap bets over other types, of which ere are some examples of equivalent bets:
- AH1(-0,5) is the same as betting on mark 1
- AH2(-0,5) is the same as betting on mark 2
- AH1(0) is the same as DNB1. In both cases, actually, there is a refund in case of a tie, and the same goes for AH2(0)
- Double chance 1X is the same as AH1(+0,5) and the same goes for X2 which is the same as AH2(+0,5).
